Everyone who has ever attempted to diet understands the title of this post. As hard as you work, as mentally tough as you are, it is difficult to avoid a plateau. Unfortunately, like many others, I could not avoid it. I began my lifestyle change on a rapid pace. I was eating much less, trying to exercise, and I was getting the results that I had hope for. I began on January 7th and by March 23rd I had dropped 35lbs.
I was happy with the progress and got complacent. I was lazy and felt like I deserved to eat a little more food. I have still maintained a smaller portion size and cut out full calorie pop, but that isn't enough. I have not been exercising, eating more junk, and slowly reverting back to my old ways.
Today this must change. I need to get back to logging in my food diary, exercising every day, and living a healthier life. If this happen, I can reach my goal of 75lbs lost by August. I am ready to dominate!

Discipline
Today, I slept in and did not wake up in time to do my daily devotional. This has a direct correlation to my weight loss. Simple routines and discipline help me to lose weight. If I am lazy, and put off important things than it is likely that I will eat an extra piece of dessert, or skip a workout. When I lost the weight the first round, I was disciplined and focussed, but now I am wavering. I need to use the inner strength provided by a relationship with Jesus to help me overcome every obstacle that is put in my way!

Making Progress
I haven't blogged in awhile but am happy to announce that I have hist my second landmark goal and lost 22 lbs! This was a tough goal for me and I am proud to have achieved it. Although I continue to eat less and choose healthier choices, it has begun to be difficult to maintain. With the basketball season over, I will be able to workout more and burn calories at a higher rate. I am excited for the possibilities and have a lofty goal of 13 more lbs by then end of next month. This will require a regualr workout routine, low calorie meals and no slip ups. I am excited for the next goal and will do everything I can to reach it!

Weigh in day
Today is the end of my first full week of my lifestyle change. It has not been easy, but as I go along I am starting to get used to that empty stomach feeling. Soon enough, this will all be a breeze. Although, I am not working out the amount I would like to, I feel like my lifestyle change has been successful so far. Hopefully when I get on the scale tonight I will leave a happy man!

So.....................it has been awhile. I haven't been posting lately, because basically......I haven't been dieting. The start of basketball coaching and the Holidays gave me too many excuses and hurt my self discipline. But, I am back in the saddle again. One week down and I have lost 4 lbs. I have been tracking my calories every day with a cool iphone app and making sure I get some sort of physical activity.
I recently asked my wife a question........"Have you ever seen a really fat elderly person?" We both responded with a resounding and alarming, "NO!" I need to make a lifestyle change and live a life that will keep me healthy for my wife, future kids and grandkids, etc. With 2 weddings in June, I have extreme motivation to make this happen. With God, all things are possible. It is time to leave my life as a lineman and become a lightweight!
