Marathon, not a sprint

I have been humbled this week at the tough reality of making a lifestyle change.  I was motivated the first time, but am so used to associating food to fun times with family and friends that it is hard to break bad habits.  But, I need to remember it is not a sprint, it is a marathon.  I am pacing myself and taking it one step at a time.  I made it a week with no full test pop, only diet.  This may seem easy to some, but for me that is a huge step that I hope to build on.

Next step is cutting out food at night.  The later I stay up the easier it is for the hunger to start up.  If I can stay disciplined and focused these small steps will jump start my lifestyle change.  I am trusting God through this and understanding that everything I do is to glorify Him in every way.  Time to turn it into Beast Mode just like Christ.  24-7-365

Here We Go!

Many things have changed in the last year and a half.  I married and amazing woman, Megan, relocated to Wisner, NE and began a teaching career.  Things have been exciting and God has blessed me in so many ways.  Unfortunately, with the high paced stress of life I have lost the self discipline I used to make a lifestyle chance prior to my wedding.

I lost over 50 lbs of extra and unnecessary football weight leading up to my wedding.  Soon after, I gained it back and have been overcome with laziness and a big lack of self discipline.  Now it is time to wake up and attack my goals with intensity.  No more talking, no more laziness, just an intense focus determined to change my life.

My goal is to lose 25 lbs by Christmas and 50 by March 1st.  Along with that I am making it a goal to run a 5k on St. Patty's day in Wisner.  I have never ran a 5k and this will take a great deal of determination and hard work.  I am going to lean on friends and family and most importantly God to motivate me through the pain and discouraging times.

"Do discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful.  Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."  Hebrews 12:11
